Adobe Premiere Pro

This is not for the regular version of Premiere. As far as I'm concerned it is an embarrassment to nature. This is for Premiere Pro only. And I must say it rocks.

This program is amazing. I have version 2.0, and whatever takes me 2 hours to edit in FCE, I can edit in Premiere Pro in 20 minutes.

Hey I'm wondering if anyone knows how to do off line editing in premiere.

I have been doing some research on the internet and can't seem to find a really good way to do it.

The reason I'm asking is because I've been thinking of shooting my next short in HD and I don't have the power to edit HD on my computer so I'm trying to figure out how to do SD off line editing and up rez at the end.

Thanks.

I didn't even know that something like that was possible! :D

My guess would be that you would need to import using scene detection, importing SD. When you've finished, import all the HD using scene detection, so that now you have two versions of the same clips. Then delete or move the SD clips, so that Premiere asks you to find the media, then choose the proper HD version.

I've never tried it, but it seems like it would work in theory...

Ok thanks much. I know it's possible, people do it on big productions so they can work with 4k and stuff but I didn't know if Premiere could handle it.

What if when you capture the footage it doesn't quite line up? Do you think that would pose a problem? Like if you don't start capturing at exactly the same place, or would it take the numbers directly out of the timecode and sync automatically?

If you are capturing on digital tape or hard drive, then Premiere should be able to line everything up pretty well for you. Have you checked the manual on offline editing?

No I don't have a copy of the manual. I might be able to find one on the internet though.
