Well I must say I'm more familiar with Sony than any other camera brand. Here are some of the cameras I've used.

PD x10, 150, 170. These guys are really great. I think they give Cannons of the same price range a definite run for their money. With XLR ports and manual zoom rings these guys really rock for the under $4,000 weight division. We use PD 150s in video class and they are a dream to work with.

VX series. I own a VX 1000 and I love it. Even though it's about 13 years old it still produces a vibrant picture and has a great deal of control. The 2000 and 2100 can only be better.

I have used some other Sony cameras but I don't have a lot of experience with them.
Those who believe it can't be done should not hinder the person doing it.

My school has a pair of HVR-A1Us.

The camera offers 1 CMOS sensor with 1080i HD recording onto a miniDV tape. The colors are gorgeous outside, but inside grain quickly becomes noticeable. Definitely not a camera for low light situations. Its large touch screen viewfinder is really cool, and there's plenty of manual options. I used this camera alone in creating this video.
