Absolutely worth sitting in the theatre for 159 min. Everything is extremely well thought out, and the effects are great. Brad Pitt is quite brilliant in the role, and they implement New Orleans history (as well as Hurricane Katrina) sensitively and interestingly. Definitely worth seeing in theatres.

Did he get the accent right?

Forgive my jest. This one looks really interesting, and I really would like to see it. How does time play a role in the movie? The trailers didn't make it clear...does the timeline move backwards, or does he grow younger?

Yes, he did actually.

Basically, when he is born he is a normal sized baby with a wrinkled appearance. As he gets older, he has trouble walking and such because his mind is comparable to a child, but his body is aging backwards. So height-wise, he grows normally. So as a child of 6, he has the mentality of a six year old, and has the same height as a six year old, but looks like a very short old man. He also has arthritis so he has a hard time walking.

As he gets older, his body gets younger, but his mind gets older. You'd think that his brain would age the same as the rest of his body, but it doesn't...not a huge deal though.

So when he eventually dies, he's an infant. (Not a spoiler...of course he dies. That's the whole point of the movie and why it is so long--to watch him from birth to death).

Aside from critics, I've yet to meet anyone that had an issue with the length of the movie. I don't think they could have done the film justice if they cut anything out.

Sounds like a hit. I have a whole list of films I intend to view someday, and this one will surely be added to that list.
