And I watched it 1 1/2 times. For free.
No, I didn't pirate it.
About 30 minutes in, it went from climatic battle scene to...anti-climatic winter wonderland. The theater all "Wtf"ed out loud. An older gentleman who we later dubbed Captain Toothpick went to inform management that this was definitely not supposed to happen. Management informed us that either the reels were labeled wrong or they screwed up. They would have it fixed in 5 minutes. Those turned out to be Microsoft minutes because he came back in 10 minutes later. Captain Toothpick wouldn't stfu and let the guy talk, chiming in with a very loud, "What's wrong? So do we get free concessions?" Turns out it was the studio's fault and they sent badly spliced reels. Another loudmouth we dubbed First Officer Douchebag began to loudly complain, trying to use words he obviously didn't understand like "slice" in the context of a moniker for the reels. He did this for several minutes, not allowing the manager to continue talking. First Officer Douchebag was annoying me, and he was only 6 seats away in the row below mine, so I made a Twitter joke that out of context would probably not be funny, but the theater erupted into laughter, and First Officer Douchebag turned in his seat and shut up. Management informed us they fixed that problem, but another reel had the same problem, so they were going to fix that as well. Gave use an estimate of 10 Microsoft minutes. Concession runs, smoke breaks, etc... 25 minutes later they cannot fix the problem and will have to move us to the neighboring theater and show us the other reels they had which they had also not watched so they didn't know if those would have the same problems.
I was tired since I worked all day, but all of that crap just made the experience that much better. The jokes flying were pretty amazing. "Q was screwing with us", "Captain Picard would never allow this to occur", etc... We had to start from the beginning, but it didn't mess up again.
Our movie started at 7 but we didn't get out of there till midnight. They gave us a ticket to use for any movie, any time. Well worth it.
