I watched videos, and I think Blender is just as capable, it was a smart move to go free. Otherwise they would have fallen behind blender for sure. PS, one guy cheeted and used Particle illusion, for a robot like anim.

While blender is very powerful it is much harder to learn than tS. tS was built for people with very little 3d experience and it very easy to learn. I think you'll find it much faster for many things than blender. How is using particle illusion cheating? It's just another tool in the kit.

I was just being sarcastic about particle illusion. Anywa, I think blender can just be scary to look at for the first time. Eventually after using things just start to click, and "Now I've got it!".

Downloaded this a few weeks ago, and I have NO idea how to do anything in this except move stuff around and rotate it.

I can animate easily with Bryce and Vue, but this is really a step above.

On my personal Ease-Of-Use scale, 1-10

Bryce EOU= 4
Vue EOU = 6
Truespace EOU = 7.5
3DS Max EOU = 10

Max is your top ease of use program? I find it very hard to use if you've never read the manual.

Bryce is the easiest while Max is the toughest. Hence the 10 for very difficult!

Ok, now I agree. See I learned on tS 3.2 and that's a lot easier. They redesigned the UI between 6.6 and 7.0 and 7 and up is crap. They do have a little revert key that allows you to change back to the old UI so I just use that. I think you'll find it much easier if you do that but I agree that Bryce is really user friendly.

Maya is even harder to learn but it is the bomb!!!

And where might I find this revert key? Sounds like it will clear up alot! I still don't even know how to begin keyframing and animations and renders with the GUI!
